From Australia and New Caledonia, two superb sandalwood essences lend this fragrance its ultra-contemporary character. Tempered by the amber notes of cistus labdanum, the sandalwood reveals its creamy facets through a warm milk note. The rose, enhanced by the spicy accents of elemi and pink peppercorn, envelops it in a fresh luminous floral breath. In New Caledonia, where this rare tree still grows, you will have to wait between 25 to 30 years before a freshly planted specimen can be processed. Then, you’ll need one ton of heartwood – the so-called “perfect” wood found in the centre of the trunk – to obtain just 50kg of essential oil. Now you know why this raw material is one of the most precious in the perfumer’s palette.
